Kia Ora. G’day. Bonjour. Hello.
Thanks for visiting Faraway Footprints. I’m Katie.
The travel bug really kicked in for me after my sister took me to Europe when I was 16. Since then, I haven’t been able to satiate my hunger for new places. I’ve now been to 21 countries and counting, including studying abroad in Australia, and a working holiday in New Zealand.
I love the feeling of being anonymous in a new land, and I’ve always felt more comfortable behind the camera rather than being in front of the lens. My signature “foot selfies” as my friends call them were a happy medium for me – showing off where I’ve been without always having to take photos of my face.
It all started from my love of shoes. My mom used to have to drag me out of a shoe store kicking and screaming if I couldn’t buy a pair (or two). It’s also my personal philosophy that you can learn a lot about a person by what they put on their feet.
So here I am taking another first step with a blog. As Lao Tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
